Resumen. The way of dying has always been considered a differentiating factor by society. The meaning of those ways of dying are expressed in popular poetry. This article analyzes specifically women’s deaths in Mexican corridos. In this topic, attention is focused on violent deaths, in femicides. This article studies how society values these deaths, their causes and the ways women are assassinated. In the author’s opinion, these deaths are a direct consequence of the patriarchal and moralist ideology of the Mexican society during the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s.
